1. Pull on it – Yes, this might hurt while you do it, but it will help get it back to normal. Pull on it quickly to pop it out of the jam. Then open and close your hand into a tight fist periodically. The more you do this, the more you will get used to using your finger again and the soreness will start to go away. It may be painful while doing this until it heals.
2. Use a finger splint – Sometimes using a finger splint will help in the healing process. If you don’t have a finger splint, you can secure it with a tongue compressor or popsicle sticks and wrap it snugly with gauze.
3. Epsom salt and pain relievers – Try soaking the jammed finger in a warm Epsom salt bath. This will help soothe and relieve the pain. Also, use a pain reliever that is over the counter, whatever kind you normally use when you have an ache or pain.
Your hands and fingers are used throughout the day so nobody wants to try and use them all day while you are in pain. One of these methods is sure to help your finger to feel normal again so you won’t have to grimace in pain every time you use it.
